The math department at Joliet Junior College wanted a custom designed super graphic that would be placed in one of their classrooms in the effort to change the environment and make the subject less intimidating towards students by combining mathematics and art.
My design focused on soundwaves inspired by the connection between math and music. The imagery displays the organic and chaotic shapes seen from soundwaves and links it with the structured and organized equations behind it. A bright blue and orange color scheme is used on top of a black background to bring emphasis to each element and the typography used is a thick slab serif typeface for it's geometrical angles and nostalgic connection for it's frequent use for math in the past.
